Introduction to Cruising
Our Basic Keelboat course is for those entering into sailing. The program enables the skipper and crew to confidently manage a sailboat to 27 foot. The program is prepared in four individual sessions over two days, totaling 16 hours. Each session contains sailing theory and ample hands-on time at the helm and crew positions.
Each session is "customized" in content and on the water activities so as to maximize total time in relationship to the learning process of the students.
The program outcome will set a level of proficiency that will enable the students to be aware of their capabilities and limitations in the conditions encountered. From this, the student may set responsible goals and timelines for further development of the sailor's skills.
Basic Keelboat is offered both as a non-certification and certification program. Certification is offered under US SAILING (call for details). Regardless of which you choose, course content remains the same, covering all aspects of Sailing Theory, Boat Management, Docking, Navigation/Piloting, Rules of the Road, and Sail Trim.
Basic Keelboat Program -16 hours:
Non-certification / Sailing Only ..........................................$620/couple
(for certification add $80/couple to cover text, US SAILING Logbook, and testing)
Sail and Stay Package One
Two night B&B stay including lunches: starting at $720/couple depending on room selected and availability
Sail and Stay Package Two
Two night B&B stay including lunches plus Certification (text, US SAILING Logbook, and testing): starting at $800/couple depending on room selected and availability
